Bedding material for inside your coop and run. This can be construction sand (NOT play sand), pine shavings, pine pellets, hemp bedding, mulch, etc.

Oyster shells for calcium for egg layers – not the same as grit

Chicken first aid kit

Nesting boxes

Chick essentials:

Brooder box (be prepared for quick growth!) *I like pop up pet pens.

Heater plates or brooder plates (avoid heat lamps due to large risk of fires among other reasons)

Chick sized feeder & waterer

Extras:

Chicken scratch

Water heater if it gets below freezing in your area

Bungee cords & tarps – bad weather protection

Extra feeders & waterers

An xl dog crate or pop up pet pen for sick, broody or chickens needing a time out.

Hydrohen & other vitamins / supplements to help keep chickens healthy

A plastic tote for soaks or to clean chickens if needed.

Epson salts – for soaks- this should be a basic essential in your chicken first aid kit
